Michael Starr is an award winning British theatre playwright. His stage and radio plays have been performed around the world, from North America to the Middle East, across Europe and back through to the United Kingdom. The majority of his work is classified as dark surreal by nature. Most of his theatre stage plays require only single or minimal black box staging, making them a popular choice for festivals, fringes and youth productions.

Full length comedy Stranded was published worldwide as a paperback print. Radio play Leave me Alone!, a satiric sketch, garnered commercial success care of BBC Radio Four (England) and then via Comedy Central (Australia). On the Belgian Front (a WWI drama) & The Cook Did It! (a whodunit parody) have been produced in Qatar, Saudi Arabia & Yemen making Michael Starr one of few English speaking playwrights to have plays produced in the region.

Cross genre comedy The Curse of Miss Fortune enjoyed a sell out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Murder mystery parody The Cook Did It! was nominated for best new play at the Woking Drama Festival. A return to the Woking Drama Festival the following year saw Underline (a psychological thriller) score five award nominations. Post apocalyptic play Z is for Zombie won ‘Best comedy’ at the Maidenhead Drama Festival, placing third overall with three nominations. A Tail of Forklure debuted at the Spelthorne & Runnymede Drama Festival, receiving four award nominations, winning two including ‘Best new play’. Samantha received six award nominations including 'Best new play' the following year. Science Fiction parody Planet of the Zers received seven award nominations, winning three, including 'Best original play'

Michael Starr founded Production Scripts, a marketplace for stage & radio plays. He stepped down from his post in mid 2013. At the time, Production Scripts had grown to represent several hundred writers and over two thousand play scripts worldwide. In 2010 The Fringe Files was launched, a small scale theatre touring company. Its aim was to act as a test vehicle for his new plays exclusively.

In late 2015, Michael Starr's entire back catalogue of stage plays were released as digital download royalty free scripts in exchange for liking of the official Facebook page. A donations page was also created to help support future script creation.
